Latest News.

Book club will start July 15 and run for about 6 or 7 weeks. Each week, Thursday night at 7pm, we’ll meet to discuss a short reading–usually a short, fictional story. Each week will be independent, meaning you can come to any single week and should be able to jump right in, and you can miss any week and not have to catch up. We read something unique for each Thursday meeting. Most stories are less than 20 pages. The stories are not Christian stories, but we will not be discussing them from an English class point of view, either. We will meet somewhere in the middle, discussing what Christ incarnate brings to each story and also discussing literary elements and not just using each story as a devotional or sermon starting point. It’s pretty fun and very interesting.

Our first story will be J.D. Salinger’s “The Laughing Man”.

One of these things is not like the others; One of these things just doesn’t belong; Can you tell which thing is not like the others; By the time I finish my song? -Sesame Street

Remember this song? The pressure? When I read the title of this message series, “Intimacy” looks like it doesn’t belong, but a case could be made for any of the three. Over summer we will be exploring the connections between being a disciple of Jesus, intimacy and The 10 Commandments. The 10 Commandments are well known even outside of religious circles and have, in some ways, taken on a life of their own. Peter Enns, professor of OT at Westminster Theological Seminary says that they are widely viewed as a stand-alone-list of do’s and don’ts, but this is to take them out of context; the 10 Commandments serve as a revelation with important insights for knowing the God who loves us, redeems us and desires to make us complete.

Street GRACE has put together two special showings of the movie,
PLAYGROUND, both on May 2, 2010 (5:00 PM and 7:30 PM).

Directed by Libby Spears, executive produced by George Clooney,
Grant Heslov, and Steven Soderbergh, and punctuated with poignant
animation by Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara, PLAYGROUND gives
viewers an alarming look into the insidious world of child sex
trafficking in America, specifically in Atlanta.

This event is being underwritten by partners of Street GRACE.
Tickets are required and seating is limited. To secure your tickets,
please visit www.StreetGRACE.org. Questions? Call (678) 990-9513 or

A great group of Veritas folks joined the volunteers at Medshare yesterday for a sorting shift. We counted, organized, and packed around 2400 lbs of surplus medical supplies that were destined for the landfill and prepared them to ship to countries in need, including Haiti. Thanks to everyone who came out to help! For additional service opportunities at Medshare and all around Atlanta, contact Elizabeth Haskell.
